Knitting Cirlce Resumes

On Wednesday, October 20th at 6:00 pm, the KNITTING CIRCLE resumes! The weather's getting chillier, and it's time to get the knitting needles & crochet hooks out of storage, pay a visit to My Sister's Yarn Shop in Forest Dale, and come on down to the Ball & Chain Café. Swap patterns, share techniques, catch up on summer stories, and get a start on your holiday gifts! Beginners warmly welcomed. Join us each Wednesday at 6:00pm.

Thanks to everyone who came out over Columbus Day Weekend! This place was hopping! Saturday, October 16th brings back one of our favorite local bands Snake Mountain Bluegrass. They'll start up the banjo, bass, guitar, and mandolin at 7:00pm. Bring a friend!

Hey, look who's coming to the Briggs Carriage Bookstore! Howard Frank Mosher will be here on Wednesday, Oct. 13th at 7:00pm to discuss and sign his new book Wating for Teddy Williams. Mosher fans & Red Sox fans won't want to miss this event!

On Friday, October 29th at 2:30pm nationally acclaimed Vermont author Chris Bohjalian will be signing copies of his latest book, Before You Know Kindness. Please note: this is a limited engagement; Chris will be available to chat briefly with customers. To reserve a copy of the book, call 802-247-0050. If you are unable to attend, stop by ahead of time to purchase his book, leave the inscription with us, and he will sign it.

Open Mic Night

On Tuesday, September 26th it's our monthly Poetry & Prose Acoustic Open Mic. Bring your verses, voices, and words, your guitars, your lutes, your accordions and kazoos, or just bring your applause. All folks and (almost!) all talents are welcome; prepare to entertain and be entertained! Sign-up begins at 6:30, the mic opens at 7. Plan on coming the last Tuesday of every month!

Waiting for Mosher

Here at the Briggs Carriage Bookstore, October is the Month of Mosher!
Spend an evening with Vermont author Howard Frank Mosher on Wednesday, October, 13th at 7:00 pm. We welcomed Mosher as our inaugural visiting author when we opened last summer. He will be back to discuss his new book Waiting for Teddy Williams and his passions for the Red Sox, the Northeast Kingdom, and the craft of writing.
Our book club selection is last year's critically acclaimed The True Account. October's meeting is scheduled for Monday the 11th at 7:00 PM. Come discuss Private True's hilariaous race against the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
